Rules and Terms – New Jersey Indian & International Film Festival (NJIIFF)
* All films not primarily in English must include English subtitles.
* To qualify for the New Jersey Indian & International Film Festival (NJIIFF), films must have been completed within the last three (3) calendar years from the year of the upcoming festival edition. Any film completed prior to this rolling 3-year window will be disqualified.
*Please note: Due to evolving circumstances, NJIIFF reserves the right to host the festival in an online format without prior notice. If this occurs, the responsibility for completing and ensuring proper online submission lies solely with the film's submitter, producer, or authorized representative. By submitting your film, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless NJIIFF, its team, directors, officers, members, managers, and sponsors from any damages, liabilities, expenses, claims, or judgments arising from the Online Film Festival format.
* Due to time and programming constraints, the festival reserves the right to screen a limited number of selected films. All officially selected films, whether screened or not, will remain eligible for award consideration.

1. SUBMITTING CONTENT
"Content" refers to all films, videos, media, images, and related materials—including publicity stills and other promotional assets—submitted to the festival. Each submission confirms your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by NJIIFF's Terms of Use and this Agreement. To be considered, your content must meet the formatting, compatibility, and technical requirements outlined on FilmFreeway.
Content must be completed within the past three (3) calendar years from the year of the current festival edition. NJIIFF will not be responsible for lost, damaged, unreadable, or misdirected content. All submissions must be made through the designated submission platform, such as FilmFreeway, with complete registration.
2. AGE REQUIREMENTS
Entrants must be 13 years or older. If under 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete the registration and agree to these Terms and Conditions on the minor’s behalf. By submitting, the guardian acknowledges responsibility for the minor’s participation and content submission.
3. CONTENT REQUIREMENTS
You are solely responsible for the content submitted under your name, account, or credentials. Content does not reflect the views of NJIIFF. The festival reserves the right to remove any content at its sole discretion, without notice.
Do not submit content that is:
Libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic
Sexually, racially, culturally, or ethnically offensive
Harassing, threatening, or abusive
Commercial in nature or conflicts with NJIIFF’s sponsorship or support
You must clear all rights, including music, sound, images, or graphics. NJIIFF is not responsible for any rights disputes. If contacted by copyright holders, NJIIFF will refer them to you.
4. COPYRIGHT & VIOLATIONS
If you believe your copyright has been infringed, or that submitted content violates these terms, email us at: info@njiiff.org
5. RIGHTS GRANTED TO NJIIFF
By submitting, you grant NJIIFF a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, and use your content in whole or in part for festival-related purposes for a period of three (3) years from the date of submission.
NJIIFF may use your content in:
Promotional materials, trailers, showreels
Physical or online screenings
Partnered events, TV networks, and streaming premieres (within the 3-year term)
Transcoding and formatting for screening or marketing
If a request arises for distribution or additional screenings beyond this scope, NJIIFF will contact the rights holder directly for further permissions and terms.
6. OWNERSHIP
You retain full ownership of your work. However, you must have all necessary rights and permissions for everything included in your film. By submitting, you confirm that you hold or have secured all rights to authorize NJIIFF’s use of your content under this agreement.
7. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATION
NJIIFF does not offer monetary compensation for selected or winning films. By submitting, you agree NJIIFF may derive benefit and exposure from your content as part of the festival without payment to you.
8. INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NJIIFF and its affiliates from any third-party claims arising from your content submission, including but not limited to copyright violations, licensing disputes, or misrepresentation.
9. DISCLAIMERS & LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
You submit content at your own risk. NJIIFF disclaims all liability for:
Data loss, computer/system damage
Unauthorized or illegal use of the content by third parties
Any damages—direct or indirect—arising from your submission
10. GENERAL
This Agreement, together with NJIIFF’s Terms of Use, constitutes the entire agreement between you and NJIIFF. NJIIFF may update, change, or terminate these terms or your participation at any time without notice. There are no cash prizes; award winners will receive a trophy and/or certificate.
11. GOVERNING LAW
This agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA. You agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Jersey.
12. JUDGING
All submissions will be reviewed by the NJIIFF selection team. Final decisions regarding screening and awards are solely at the discretion of the festival team and are not open to appeal.
13. FESTIVAL CHANGES
You (the filmmaker/participant) acknowledge and agree that festival dates, venues, terms, and conditions are subject to change without prior notice. By submitting, you accept all future changes and agree to remain bound by updated terms.
By submitting your film to NJIIFF, you confirm that you have read, understood, and fully accept all terms and conditions outlined above.
